2016 Summer Reading!
The summer months are a great time to promote reading as a lifelong skill. Remember to pack some books and magazines for that vacation and include them in your beach bags.
Don’t forget to include visits to Chinn Park Library in your summer schedule. They have a host of family activities and programs for all ages. If you register for the free Summer Quest Program you will receive weekly coupons with your library visit. Remember, Summer Quest participation may be used as documentation for the PWC Summer Reading Program.
Please remember that the summer reading list handed out by the school is simply a “suggested” list. It may be used by children and families that need some guidance in locating age/grade appropriate books. If students already have reading preferences, summer is a great time to enjoy whatever excites them as readers. Reading should be seen as a pleasurable, informative, and entertaining pastime, and summer is a great time to explore one’s own interests.
*Students who choose the option of participating in the Prince William Public Library summer reading program should read the number of books designated for their grade level.*
Students should use the reading list for NEXT YEAR'S grade. For instance, if your child just finished 1st grade, then use the 2nd grade reading list.
